Eye Exams & Professional Eye Care at Luna Vision & Med Spa

Eye Care Services in Pittsburgh, Greensburg, and Tarentum, PA

When was the last time you saw the eye doctor? The importance of annual eye exams goes well beyond just making sure your vision isn't blurry. Seeing clearly with an updated vision prescription is certainly important for working adults and school-going children alike. But in addition to this, eye exams are often the only way the eye doctor can diagnose eye problems and diseases in a timely manner. This is because many serious eye problems do not initially present with obvious symptoms. Only a comprehensive eye exam by an optometrist or ophthalmologist can ensure that the inner workings of your eyes are, in fact, working. And only these exams can help you catch eye problems before they become serious.

At Luna Vision and Med Spa, we understand the importance of professional eye care services. Whether you simply need an annual eye exam, or you have concerns about an eye problem such as cataracts, our team can help you. Our eye exams and diagnostic testing are provided by Dr. Dutt, a board-certified ophthalmologist with over 22 years of private practice experience. She is also Fellowship Trained in Glaucoma, Diabetic Eye Exams, Macular Degeneration, and Dry Eye care.

Luna Vision and Med Spa offers eye exams, including dilation and glasses prescription, for $65. Add a contact lens evaluation and trial for just $45.

Schedule a visit today to meet with Dr. R. M. Dutt at one of our three locations for your vision care and eyewear needs!

Frequently Asked Questions on Eye Exams and Eye Care Services:

What Specific Vision Needs Can Your Practice Address?

Luna Vision and Med Spa offers routine eye exam services, as well as access to glasses and contacts. In addition to these routine visits, we can diagnose and provide care for the following eye problems:

  • Cataracts: When the natural lens of the eye begins to cloud over, a cataract forms. The condition is highlighted by a gradual clouding of vision, glare, and yellow tinting on a person’s vision. Cataracts can be removed routinely through a state-of-the-art no-stitch procedure. (Ask us how we can get rid of your glasses altogether after surgery!)
  • Dry Eye: Dry eye occurs when a person's eyes fail to maintain healthy moisture levels. Discomfort, frequent blurred vision (that clears but is accompanied by pain), runny or watery eyes, and crusting of the eye are all possible symptoms. These symptoms can be cured easily - either with lid scrubs or punctual plugs.
  • Macular Degeneration: Macular Degeneration is the leading cause of vision loss. This age-related condition causes vision to dull due to damage within the eye. While not curable, the condition can be managed through lifestyle choices and proper medical attention.
  • Diabetes: Individuals with diabetes are at risk of suffering from diabetic retinopathy - an eye disease that causes blurred vision from bleeding and swelling inside the eyes. Your insurance will pay for yearly eye exams, which are a vital part of addressing this vision issue.
  • Glaucoma: "Glaucoma" refers to a group of eye conditions that can cause blindness, typically due to increased pressure on the nerves and structures of the eyeball. Glaucoma is known as the silent cause of blindness due to its lack of noticeable symptoms early on. However, those afflicted only go blind if left untreated for many years. Drops and laser surgery can help control the effects of this issue.

How Much Is An Eye Exam?

Eye exams are typically covered with insurance. A routine eye exam, for example, is billed to your vision insurance plan. Diabetic Eye Exams, Macular Degeneration care, and Dry Eye screenings are also examples of vision needs covered by insurance. Depending on the specific nature of your visit, in some cases medical insurance may cover your visit rather than vision insurance.
